What is a safe Radon gas level?

Accepted Answer

There is no such thing. The EPA has set its recommended action level at 4.0pCi/L. However, the WHO has set its action level at 2.7pCi/L.

How long does a Radon gas test take?

A minimum of 48 hours is required for a short-term Radon test. You can leave the Radon monitor in place for up to 7 days, but most tests fall in the 2-4 day range.

Should I perform a Radon gas test in a condo if I am not on the ground level?

This is a personal choice. While your odds of having high levels are lower than if you were in a ground-level unit, it is not impossible. For your health and safety, I always encourage you to have a test performed on every home, but ultimately the choice is yours.

Yes. You can look at the hard data and see that about 20% of the crawlspace homes in Louisville tested high for Radon gas.

Should I test for Radon gas if my house is built on a concrete slab?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A concrete slab home is essentially a basement sitting on top of the ground. It's concrete on dirt. I routinely see high Radon levels in homes built with a concrete slab.
